lyrics

Vraj chcete poznať názor ľudu
spýtať sa, ako vníma svet
tvrdíte, že sa dočkal kľudu
že jeho rozvoj je ako let
vraj chcete vedieť, ako sa cíti
prečo mu vadí pot a krv
veď predsa dennodenne vidí
že žije lepšie ako prv

Ref.:
Naša odpoveď je nie
nebudete ignorovať náš hlas
z našich duší a myslí znie
my budeme odpor klásť

Myslíte si, že budeme mlčať
keď vraždíte a veríte
že keď budete dosť dlho klamať
aj pravdu zo lži spravíte
že naša krv je iba voda
a nikdy v nás nezovrie
pozor, páni, tep do mozgu bodá
to odpor páli, čo nikdy nezomrie

Resistance

You say you want to know what the people think
you want to ask them how they see the world
you say that they have found peace
that their progress is like a flight
you say you want to know how they feel
why they mind the sweat and blood
after all, every day they see
that their life is better than before

Ref.:
Our answer is no
you won’t ignore our voice
from our souls and minds resonates
that we will put up resistance

You think that we will be quiet
when you kill and believe
that if you keep on lying long enough
your lies become the truth
that our blood is like water
which will never boil
watch out, masters, pulse hammers in the brain
it’s the burning resistance which will never die

Ref.:

Originally, this song was supposed to appear on our first album “My sa trosiek nebojíme...” in 2007, but we managed to record it only now.

The lyrics are inspired by the second half of the 1990’s when Slovakia started to change into a laboratory for neoliberal experiments. The major issue in discussions about this period could be summed up like this: those politicians who stood against the so-called “mečiarizmus” became the saviors of democracy. Other important actors are almost completely excluded from the discussion – the workers in the streets who listened to the promises of double wages and instead got their social and employment rights encroached for example in the form of attacks on the Labor Code. Critical discussion about this period often veers towards a confrontation with a false dilemma whether it is more important to have freedom or something to eat...

However, it is possible to look at the 1990’s and our current situation differently. For instance as Karmína collective (www.karmina.red) in their texts Workers’ struggles in Slovakia (1994 -2014) and Chronology of workers’ struggles in Slovakia.
